This recipe makes a massive batch of homemade Bisquick mix and is it so quick and easy. It is designed to be used over multiple baking sessions.
INGREDIENTS
10 cups flour (optional: replace 2 cups with wheat flour)
1/3 cup baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
4 teaspoons salt
2 cups of shortening (For richer flavor use butter-flavored)
Start with a large bowl. Combine 10 cups of flour (Sometimes, I replace 2 cups of it with wheat flour to make it healthier.), 1/3 cup of baking powder, 1/4 cup of sugar, 4 teaspoons of salt, and 2 cups of shortening. If I want it to be a particularly rich mix I use the butter-flavored shortening.
The next step is to mix it all together cutting the shortening into pea-sized pieces. This can be done with a spoon or a handheld mixer. If you are using a mixer just be careful not to get flour all over the kitchen.
Store it in a lidded container in a cool, dry place. Use within the next 3-6 months.
