Best Homemade Dryer Sheets; Natural and Reusable

Updated: Jun 27

Emmaline has been researching and using natural products in her home for years. Luckily, she is willing to share her vast experience with the rest of us. This recipe for natural dryer sheets reduces the amount of harsh chemicals we have directly on our skin everyday. For those of us with sensitive skin this is especially beneficial.

Supplies

The first step is to figure out how big your container is. I went with a really large one due to the size of my family. For the basic recipe you’ll want a container that will hold about 6 cups of fluid. Next, you will need enough washcloths to fill up your container when stacked sideways. (Depending on your container, you may need to fold them.) Set these off to the side.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups Vinegar 2 cups Water 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Glycerin 30-40 drops Essential Oils

Combine 2 cups of water and 2 cups of vinegar in your container. The vinegar softens clothing well and surprisingly doesn’t leave a vinegar smell after running through the dryer. Now mix 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin and 30-40 drops of essential oil. The glycerin softens clothes and is a base for the essential oils so they don’t float in the liquid. Now combine these with the vinegar/water mixture. Place your washcloths in side ways and you are ready to go.

The scent is best in the first 30 days. When using them, don’t wring out the cloth, just throw it right in the dryer. After the dryer is done, if you still have extra fluid in your container, just add it back in or reserve it for when you put together your next batch.
