Clean Venetian Blinds With Ease

Updated: Feb 14

Welcome back to the Wisdom Preserved Blog where I, Emmaline, am providing an in-depth walk-through of how to clean Venetian blinds with ease. These classic window treatments add a touch of elegance to any home but can accumulate dust and grime over time. Instead of resorting to harsh chemicals, we’ll explore a more natural method using a DIY cleaning solution. This cleaning method will ensure your Venetian blinds shine while keeping your living space healthy and toxin-free.

Dusting Your Venetian Blinds the Easy Way, with a Vcacuum:

The first step in cleaning Venetian blinds is to remove the surface dust. My favorite way to do this is to use the little brush attachment on my vacuum. Be gentle so you do not break or bend your blinds. Run the vacuum along each slat, starting from the top and working your way down. The vacuum is highly effective at capturing dust particles without the need for chemical sprays. Make sure you dust both sides of the blinds.

Vinegar, Water, and a Tiny Amount of Soap Solution:

For a deeper clean, a simple vinegar, water, and only 5 drops of soap solution works wonders. I mix 10 parts Water, 1 part Vinegar, and 5 Drops of Liquid Soap (Your Choice) into a spray bottle. Adjust the quantities depending on the size of your blinds. Spray the solution onto a clean microfiber cloth or directly onto the blinds, being careful not to oversaturate them. Gently wipe each slat, paying close attention to any stubborn spots or stains. Vinegar’s natural acidity helps break down grime and grease, leaving your blinds refreshed. Be sure to spray and wipe both sides and then turn back to the first side and make sure there are no drips or spots that came up after the second side.

Prevention is key to maintaining clean Venetian blinds. Establishing a routine cleaning schedule can save you time and effort in the long run. Dust your blinds regularly with a microfiber cloth or duster. By adopting a proactive approach to cleanliness, you’ll minimize the need for deep cleaning sessions.

Cleaning your Venetian blinds doesn’t have to involve harsh chemicals or expensive commercial products. With these all-natural methods, you can achieve a clean, toxin-free living space while embracing the beauty of eco-friendly cleaning practices. So, next time your Venetian blinds are in need of some tender loving care, remember to harness the power of microfiber, vinegar, water, and a tiny bit of soap. Let’s create a cleaner, healthier home together, one blind at a time.
