Introduction

WHAT IS MITTLEIDER GARDENING?

Mittleider gardening is a highly organized approach to growing vegetables that focuses on efficient use of space, careful plant spacing, soil preparation, consistent feeding and regular attention to the garden.

Rather than simply planting and hoping for the best, the method provides a structured way to plan, plant, feed and maintain a productive garden.

Here I'll share what I've learned from using the method in my own garden—including what worked, what didn't, and what I changed along the way.
